What is the Role of Women
in the GMC of SC?

In South Carolina women represent 25% of the active GMC clergy. Female pastors have a strong voice in our state and are serving at all levels to help facilitate the growth of our new denomination.  Unfortunately, one of the obstacles we still face is the stigma that female clergy are theologically progressive.  You will find the clergy women who diligently serve local congregations have a deep desire to proclaim the gospel and witness true spiritual growth in their churches.

As a Presiding Elder, I am privileged to hear testimonies from pastors about the health of their congregations.  Newly minted GMC churches are experiencing joy, increasing attendance, and adding new members not only by transfer but also through profession of faith.  Whether male or female, it is refreshing to work with like minded clergy and laity.

Throughout the centuries, women have been and will continue to be a driving force in the church.  Any pastor will tell you he or she could not do the work of the kingdom without women. We bring a unique perspective to ministry and the life of the church.  I look forward to partnering with the lady clergy and laity of South Carolina as we strive to help the Lord build His kingdom.

In Luke chapter 1, Elizabeth filled with the Holy Spirit spoke blessings over Mary and the Messiah she would bear.  This beautiful exchange between the two women is followed by the “Magnificat” in verses 46-47 (NIV) in Mary’s hymn of praise as she proclaims, “My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” As we give birth to a new denomination, a true movement of God’s Holy Spirit, join me in singing praises and rejoicing in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It is a new day for men and women in the Global Methodist Church of South Carolina, and it is truly amazing to see what the Lord is doing in our midst.
