ROOTED Recap
Saturday, October 26 was the GMC of SC’s inaugural statewide youth conference “Rooted,” hosted by the Youth Collective. 187 students and leaders gathered together at Mt. Horeb Methodist Church in Lexington, SC for a day of worship, teaching, fellowship, and games. 17 different churches from around the state were represented in the gathering.
The keynote speaker, Pastor Gerald Fadayomi of Home Church in Roswell, GA, challenged us in the first session with the idea of “Who is Jesus, and Who is Jesus to us?” We learned how Jesus is God, Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer. In the second session, Pastor Gerald challenged us to carry out what we had learned by moving it into our daily lives to have a lasting impact and transformation.
Students and leaders also attended different breakout sessions during the day, about topics such as sharing their faith with friends, different methods to share the Gospel, “Is God Real?,” a female breakout on being “Enough,” and “What to Do When Life Gets Hard.”
In addition, a breakout for youth leaders was offered, with a focus on caring for our souls as leaders and the importance of being involved in the Wesleyan tradition of class meetings and band meetings.
We want to offer a special thank you to Mt. Horeb and their staff for offering their space for the day and for providing games, lunch, worship, and leadership.
We pray that new relationships were formed, lives were transformed, and that our statewide connection will continue to grow and flourish in the years to come.
